Breast Cancer

We questioned our members about breast cancer services in their areas, especially the presence of specialist breast care teams.

 

We collated the information and decided there was a need to raise awareness of the government guidelines for services.

We also felt that attitudes needed to be challenged and current thinking highlighted.

 

 

How we made a difference

We have contributed to the continuing improvement of services all over the country and support the establishment of specialist breast care teams for everyone. We still press for monitoring of services and lobbying for change where necessary. Encouragement for all women to continue to be screened after the present recommended age.

The Pink Bridge

In October, at the 2006 SIGBI Federation Conference in Newcastle/Gateshead, we turned the Millennium Bridge Pink! Fifteen hundred delegates, all in pink, gathered on the bridge  - it was quite a sight!
