No More Landmines - Square Meals for Square Miles

In 2008 Soroptimists in the UK are raising funds to clear a landmined area in Afghanistan.

The target (£10,000, which equates to just £40 from each Soroptimist club in the UK) will ensure that a landmine in Afghanistan is completely cleared of mines.  Every £1 raised will clear 1 square metre of mined land. The address to which to send cheques is at the foot of this page.

It started with Landmine Awareness Week, Sunday 29 October – Sunday 6 November 2006 - when we ran our Week of 1,000 Dinners. Our aim is to raise sufficient money for the Adopt-a-Minefield Team to fund a mine clearance project in Afghanistan, which will then enable a school or clinic to re-open.

For more information, see No More Landmines' dedicated Soroptimist page

This is a great resource for Soroptimists in the UK to access information about our planned campaign, and you will see that International President, Lynn Dunning, was happy to support us, there is a message from Immediate Past Federation President, Ann Dawson and a greeting from Sir Paul McCartney, Patron of Adopt-A-Minefield. There is also a Roll of Honour, listing the names of the clubs who have signed up to the initiative.

See the information leaflet and pack (PDF. file) with suggested menus, games, etc.
