Projects

We are currently working on a number of issues across the UK and across the Programme Focus goals. These include:

Born Free Appeal

UNICEF UK wished to work with UK Soroptimists again, following the successful project School in a Box and have launched a new appeal: BORN FREE from HIV Appeal.

Breast Cancer

We questioned our members about breast cancer services in their areas, especially the presence of specialist breast care teams.

Flagship Project - Violence Against Women - Stop It Now

Our Flagship Project - please visit our dedicate page.

No More Landmines - Square Meals for Square Miles

In 2008 Soroptimists in the UK are raising funds to clear a landmined area in Afghanistan.

Project SIerra - A Family and a Future

Project SIerra is a four-year partnership between Soroptimist International and Hope and Homes for Children which aims to raise over £1 million ($2 million USD) to transform the lives of some of the most deprived women and children in the world.

Prostitution

We have long been concerned about women involved in prostitution, and about sex offences generally.

Science and Technology

We are aware of the shortfall of women working in the area of science and technology and the need to actively encourage women already in the field.

Victims of Rape

We prepared a report on rape which was launched in parliament, presented to the relevant minister and was sent by Soroptimists throughout the UK to their local MPs.
