Message from APD for International Goodwill and Understdanding, Dot Hunter

"At the Federation Programme Action Committee Meeting in Nottingham it was agreed that clubs would research United Nations Resolution 1325 and that we would lobby for full implementation of the resolution by all governments who ratified it.

"Our aim is for a coordinated approach so we agreed to pursue the following course:

• Clubs to research and find as many reasons as possible for full implementation.
• Each reason to be written on a picture postcard from the clubs’ locality.
• These to be sent to the Federation Office where they will be collected.
• When we have 1325 postcards I will send them on your behalf to the Secretary General of the United Nations en masse so that there will be a Federation wide approach which will give maximum impact.

"I should like the postcards to arrive in time for the International Day of Peace on September 21st. I appreciate there may not be time for enough postcards by September 2006 but we can continue collecting cards so that at the latest they will be delivered for 21st Sept. 2007.

"This is a really easy way to make a strong impact at the United Nations –so please do support the action agreed by your PA Chairs at the Federation Conference and research the resolution so that you can begin writing your postcards!!
