SI Carnforth and District
Cheque for Diabetes UK
In early February, joint club presidents, Carolyn Lowe and Hilary Allinson, presented a cheque for £1,000 to Diabetes UK.
Operation Christmas Child
The photograph on the left was taken in a very cold warehouse when four members helped to fill shoe boxes for the Samaritan's Purse Christmas Child project. The boxes went to Croatia, we saw them loaded and waved the lorry on its way. Quite an emotional occasion.
Charity Work
The Club's charity work is both local and international. They support Macmillan Nurses, Friends of Chernobyl’s children and the Rowley Project for clean water for a village in Kenya.
They provide afternoon teas for elderly ladies once a month, and plant out shrubs in their local primary school. A child from Chernobyl visits on an annual basis for one month. They fund-raise by making and selling re-useable shopping bags. As a club they are very environmentally friendly, recycling jewellery, spectacles, ink cartridges and used stamps.
When not doing all this they are having lots of fun and friendship.
