The Big Clean Up

On Tuesday 25th August members of SI Walsall and SI Cannock went along to help with the grand ‘clear-up’ at Weston Park following the very successful V Festival.

Wearing wellies and other appropriate clothing, members set to to dismantle and pack tents, let down and roll up air beds, and collect chairs, buckets, bowls, sleeping bags, unopened tinned food – and anything else left behind by the revellers that was in good condition and might be of use to others.

 

 

Members collected items for Pathway and The Haven, two local refuges for women victims of domestic violence; for a Walsall charity group which takes youngsters away on camping holidays [the children’s only holiday] and for International Aid.

 

 

The clear-up goes on over two days and is organised by Rotary International. It is a true example of organisations working together and giving service to help others. All the Soroptimists who went along thoroughly enjoyed the experience and know that those who receive the goods will be more than grateful.
