Cheque Presentation
Pictured right is Immediate Past President, Nannette, presenting a cheque to the National Children's Society, one of several charities that Nannette had supported during her year as President. The money was raised in many ways but in true Soroptimist style they always involved food.

Soroptimists say Flog It!
Auctioneer, David Barby
Rugby Soroptimists helped raise over £1,800 at a packed ‘Antiques Gala in aid of The NSPCC’. Local celebrity auctioneer and TV presenter, David Barby, hosted the event, packing the stunning Great Hall at Bilton Grange for an evening of ‘fun’draising'.
David gave a fantastic, animated and, at times, hilarious talk on the subject of antiques; drawing on his extensive knowledge from ‘life in the trade’ and his own personal experiences as a collector and, after a grand supper, David auctioned a diverse catalogue of donated ‘antiques’ to a captivated audience.
Everyone present entered into the spirit of the event with great enthusiasm and, at times, immense generosity; ensuring that every ‘lot’ - from butter dish to oil painting - was given a new home. And through David’s entertaining and charismatic style of persuading people to part with their cash the NSPCC benefited.
Rugby Refuge
The club has been working with the Rugby Refuge providing toiletries, creating a play garden and providing toys and sports equipment. However, the club established and funded the R O S A project which involved the funding and supporting research of a book, which is now available in all libraries and womens centres throughout the county, supporting victims of violence. Leigh Hunt is a member of the R O S A committee representing Soroptimist International.
