Saturday of Service

Kettering's litter pick

The Saturday of Service was spent undertaking a litter pick at the local hospital Pocket Park and surrounding area.

Members of Kettering Club have provided a workforce for the Pocket Park over a number of years. Building work in the area has reduced the opportunity for that for the time being. We decided to put SOS to good use by undertaking a litter pick of the park and the car parking area. Four members, accompanied by their dogs, donned Wellington boots and gloves and, armed with litter pickers and plastic bags, cleaned the area of a wide variety of litter.

A lot of rain the previous night , plus a drizzly start to the day put off some prospective helpers; however, the sun shone on those of us who did turn out and we had a very enjoyable, if rather muddy, morning!

Nineteen Soroptimists from the Kettering and Peterborough clubs walked at Wicksteed Park in Kettering on Saturday 23rd September. They started with a ‘warm up’ session, which was a source of amusement. The total money raised is around £250 from each club.
