UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women United Nations' Resolution 154/134 on 17 December 1999 designated 25 November as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and invited governments, international organisations and NGOs to organise on that day activities designated to raise public awareness of the problem.
