UKPAC Aims and Objectives
STRATEGIC AIMS 2007-11
The following Strategic Aims provide guidelines for UKPAC work during the period 2007-11 and may be amended as new issues emerge. In all its work, the UKPAC will be guided by the International Mission Statement.
UKPAC General Programme Aims
- To work with SI Programme Focus Goals and Objectives topics for 2007-11
- To support motions agreed at Federation Conference.
- To progress action on the UKPAC “flagship” project: Violence against Women. - Stop it Now.
- To progress issues raised with UKPAC by Regions.
- To respond to government initiatives and consultation documents, as appropriate.
- To organise Study Days as appropriate and act on issues raised.
- To encourage clubs to take action on UKPAC initiatives.
- To work with the Federation Programme Director, Assistant Federation Programme
Directors and UKPAC representatives.

INTERNATIONAL MISSION STATEMENT
Through international partnerships and a global network of members, Soroptimists inspire action and create opportunities to transform the lives of women and girls by: advocating for equity and equality; creating safe and healthy environments; increasing access to education; developing leadership and practical skills for a sustainable future.
SI Goals
Soroptimists will ensure that women and girls:
- Enjoy equity and equality
- Live in safe and healthy environments
- Have access to education
- Have leadership and practical skills
SI OBJECTIVES
- Eliminate poverty and gender discrimination through ensuring women's full social and economic rights
- End human trafficking and all forms of violence against women and girls
- Ensure access to health care for women and girls
- Support programmes and policies that would eliminate HIV/AIDS, malaria, TB and major diseases
- Improve access to clean water, sanitation and essential food resources
- Mitigate the effects of climate change and integrate sustainability into personal choices and governmental policies and programmes
- Meet the needs of women and girls during and after armed conflicts, man-made and natural disasters
- Promote peaceful processes for conflict resolution through encouragement of intercultural and inter-racial tolerance and condemnation of all forms of genocide and terrorism
- Ensure equal access to education and training throughout their lifespan
- Enable women's advancement in management, politics and decision making
