SI Windermere and District

SI Windermere and District are hosting an Open Meeting to raise awareness on trafficking, its spread into all parts of the UK and the measures being taken to combat this 21st century form of enslavement.

The Chairman of the Trustees of the Medaille Trust, set up to provide safe housing and offering opportunities for physical and psychological healing will be present.

The meeting will be open to the public and it is hoped that members of Clubs from all over the region will attend.

SI Windermere and District recently held a Wine and Nibbles Evening to raise funds for 'Dignity Period' to obtain sanitary protection for the women of Zimbabwe. Ten pounds can provide one woman with sanitary products for a year, so the club has been able to help nearly 30 women with the £285 raised at this event.

This year is the club’s Silver Jubilee and exciting events are planned including a raffle which will be drawn at the Charter Dinner in September, the proceeds of which will go to the Great North Air Ambulance.
