International President's Appeal

Restoring Dignity brochure detail

The International President's Appeal was instigated by Catherine Salt when she was International President. She asked every member to give something up on the day and donate the cost to the appeal. The 10 December 2008 appeal was Restoring Dignity - helping women who suffer from Vaginal Fistula problems. Five of the clubs in Scotland North supported this appeal.

SI Perth followed Catherine Salt's suggestion; each member was given an envelope and asked to give something up such as a hairdo, a glass of wine, etc and donate what they had saved. SI Crieff held a raffle, SI Dundee held a collection at a club meeting and SI Aberdeen had their usual club auction at a dinner meeting - a glorified Bring and Buy. St Andrews and District held a fund-raising dinner and at a club meeting, a Soroptimist brooch was auctioned. Overall the sum of £1,603 was raised for the appeal by the members of Scotland North.
