SI The Fylde
SI Fylde supports Life Education, Contact Centre, Traidcraft and Fair Trade, the local Women’s Refuge and hospice and sponsors the education of a number of children.
As we move into the next Soroptimist year (May 07-Apr 08) the club intends that as well as continuing with their current projects they are also going to get healthy both mentally and physically. To that end they are involved in a scheme which promotes walking and outdoor exercise as well as gardening in a local community garden.
World Mental Health Day is to be marked by a concert and other events. The club will be supporting the local Mental Health Group by helping to run the events. They will also be working with their neighbouring club, SI Blackpool.
A Pamper Day in conjunction with Carers’ Point is being arranged. This will offer therapies and relaxation to the carers themselves.
Talks are in hand regarding a Book Club using “prescribed books”- self help books in local libraries suggested by a health practitioner.
