SI Blackpool

Programme Action work in Blackpool is concentrated mainly on continuing long term projects. These include Talking Newspapers; in fact SI Blackpool has been there since the start 30 years ago. They were recently at the 30th Celebration and were presented with an award for all their hard work.

SI Blackpool are involve not only in providing teams of staff to work at the Child Contact Centre throughout the year but two club members serve on the Management Committee.

Several years ago the club members were asked to facilitate the meetings of the local MS Society by providing refreshments at the monthly meetings, thus allowing the carers to participate fully in the meetings. Volunteers now attend regularly and their home-made biscuits a real treat!

SI Blackpool provides a great deal of service in the community supporting the National Osteoporosis Society, Life Education Centres and an award at the Blackpool Music Festival.

During this coming year SI Blackpool is working with SI Fylde on a project for World Mental Health Day.
